Which market saw tourism grow by 50% last year?

CESA and EFCEM support European campaign to improve catering equipment manufacturers’ trade links to Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka saw tourism grow by 50% last year.  To help catering equipment and food service companies supply this fast growing “hot spot”, Montgomery Worldwide and Pico Events have launched Hotel Hospitality & Food 27-29 October 2011, Colombo.

Recently nominated as the top destination for travellers by ‘The New York Times’, Sri Lanka is the global tourist industry’s current hot-spot. GNP is increasing by over 8% p.a. and Sri Lanka is currently the world’s eighth fastest growing economy. The Government has set a target of 36,000 new hotel rooms by 2016 (trebling capacity) to welcome 2.5 million guests.  Government also estimates development investment in the sector of $5 billion in the period.

Hotel, Hospitality and Food Sri Lanka will create a new platform for European companies in the food service and catering equipment and allied sectors to supply trade visitors and distributors from the very fast growing hotel and hospitality sectors, in not just Sri Lanka but other markets in the South Asian region.

This event will be supported by European bodies such as CESA (the Catering Equipment Suppliers Association), EFCEM (European Federation of Catering Equipment Manufacturers) and the European Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka.  It is a unique opportunity for food service and catering equipment companies and all suppliers to foodservice, hotels and tourism projects to find new customers in one of the fastest growing hotel and hospitality markets.
