Williams adds two models to its ‘top of the range’ refrigeration range
Williams Refrigeration has added two new upright cabinets to its popular Jade range. The J400U and J500U both feature bottom-mounted refrigeration systems and increase the ‘Jade choice’ by offering new storage capacities of 410 and 523 litres respectively (the established J1 has a capacity of 620 litres). Both are available in chilled and frozen storage versions.
“The Jade is our most popular range of products,” says Martin Laws, marketing manager at Williams.
“The new models mean we can offer a much wider choice of cabinet sizes, allowing customers to choose the model that best fits their kitchen space. The new sizes have been developed in direct response to customer demand.” (more…)

It’s a family affair as Kings Lynn manufacturer’s long-serving staff celebrate awards
The people who come to work for Williams in Kings Lynn tend to stay a long, long while. In fact, the average length of tenure is over 15 years. On August 15th the company held a ceremony to hand out its latest awards to its long-serving staff – two of whom were celebrating 30 years’ service!
In fact, adding up all the people who reach 15, 20 and 30 years’ landmarks gives a grand total of well over 1,000 years in total! (more…)

Super Caley’s Falcon Kit and Williams Fridges Sort It
With 17,000 students, catering at Glasgow’s Caledonian University is a huge operation. The brand new main restaurant is part of a major rebuild, The Heart of the Campus project. “It’s called The Heart partly because it’s right in the middle of the campus,” says head of catering, Frank McCabe, “but also because it’s built round leafy courtyards where customers can relax in the fresh air – and because it’s designed to inspire social gatherings.” At the heart of any catering operation is the kitchen – and the heart of The Heart is built around cooking equipment from Falcon and refrigeration from Williams.
“The restaurant reflects the rich ethnic mix of students here,” says Frank. “It’s essentially a food hall with a wide variety of different offerings, many cooked live – it’s great theatre. So we have everything from salad bars to sushi counters to soup stations, burgers on the flame grill, pizzas, a soup station, deli bars, fresh fruit, grab & go merchandisers…” (more…)

Fridges are ‘critical to success’ as Edinburgh University creates ‘fantastic model’ of social integration
When it comes to designing student residences for post grads, it must be recognised that they can have very different living patterns to undergraduates, so they don’t necessarily want the same kind of accommodation arrangements. The classic student residence is a cluster of three or four rooms in a flat with a shared living room and kitchen. Whilst this is still very popular, the University of Edinburgh has moved to create a more exciting model which recognises post grads’ preferences. For example, they often don’t eat at the same time as their flatmates. They often just want to snack. Top British manufacturers supply equipment for live cookery competition at this year’s Hotelympia
Falcon Foodservice and Williams Refrigeration will be supplying equipment for Hotelympia’s International Salon Culinaire competition this year.
Salon Culinaire is the largest and most prestigious chef competition programme in the UK. This year’s contest features 80 classes within four categories, and once again celebrates the skills of the UK’s hospitality industry.
For more than ten years, the organisers of the Live Theatre competition have chosen equipment from Falcon and Williams. These are timed cookery challenges, with the added pressure of a live audience watching every move. With competition at this level it’s vital that the equipment available to competitors performs well under pressure. (more…)

The draw was open to anyone who contributed pictures or fridge care tips to the #loveyourfridge hashtag on Twitter. Top prize was a sumptuous hamper from Harrods, which included wine, champagne and a selection of luxurious food and confectionary.
