This year’s CESA Conference, in association with Cedabond, ENSE and the FCSI, is on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 November.  Now CESA has announced that there will be a bonus session for delegates on Friday, with a breakfast discussion panel on the Smart Kitchen.

The panel will be led by Gary Meehan who, for almost 30 years, has worked with food equipment brands as a digital strategy, software development and marketing consultant.  His focus has been to help them make better use of digital systems, applications and technology, to streamline operations and enhance the customer experience. As a strong advocate for the benefits associated with ‘smart connected kitchens’ he has spent the last four years leading the development of a common information, asset and lifecycle management ecosystem for the foodservice industry.

A pre-Conference straw poll told Evan Davis that delegates were ‘overwhelmingly optimistic’ about the economic future, despite Brexit and Trump.  “Let’s see if we can beat that out of you,” he said.  For him, the big post-referendum economic story was the slump in investment for growth – but what’s happening now may be bigger than Brexit: we may be seeing the end of globalization.  Meanwhile, the prospect of trade tariffs means we will have to get more competitive.  However, as London suffers, with its financial role moving to Europe, the economy may be rebalanced as Northern manufacturers flourish thanks to the weaker value of Sterling.

Evan Davis from Newsnight and Dragon’s Den will be returning to facilitate the conference, which is organised in association with the FCSI UK&I, Cedabond and ENSE.

With a focus on the importance of teamwork and collaboration, the program includes a presentation and discussion of specially commissioned research relating to issues concerning specification. There will also be an important debate discussing the unfolding consequences of the EU referendum and the potential outcomes of the UK leaving the European Union.

The event is organised in association with FCSI, BHA, CEDABOND and ENSE and is open to all those working in the foodservice industry.

A dynamic speaker platform boasts broadcaster Evan Davis, who is this year’s Conference Chair. His insights into the economy are sure to go down well with delegates, while his experiences in Dragons’ Den should prepare him for any awkward questions.

Hubbard Scotsman joins ENSE

Hubbard Ice Systems, which distributes the Scotsman range of ice machines, has joined the ENSE buying group. 

Simon Aspin, commercial director of Hubbard Ice Systems“We have been looking at ways to enhance the service we deliver to our distributor network,” says Simon Aspin, commercial director of Hubbard.  “ENSE not only gives its dealer members major benefits, it also gives us a competitive advantage in terms of our routes to market.” 

In-house research carried out in April 2013 showed that Hubbard scores highly in terms of its dealer support, and that Scotsman is seen as one of the leading quality icemaker brands.  “The ice machine sector is very competitive.  Membership of ENSE will help us capitalise on the way the market sees both Hubbard and Scotsman,” says Aspin.  “In addition, ENSE’s communications network will help us inform the dealer market about several new products we are launching over the coming months.” (more…)
