Rational SelfCookingCenter® whitefficiency® shortlisted for Hotelympia 2012 Innovation Awards

Rational’s SelfCookingCenter® whitefficiency®, the next generation combi oven, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Hotelympia 2012 Innovation Awards.  The winners will be announced on Monday 27th February on the main stage at Hotelympia. The awards look at products across the catering sector that combine innovation with sustainability and time and money-saving features. The SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency scores on all points.

“We’ve obviously hit the market right with our new model,” says Lee Norton of Rational. “Demand has been staggering. We’ve increased production capacity by 40% to keep pace with incoming orders. The average production was around 180 units per day before we launched the new model.  Right now we are manufacturing 250 units a day and our target is 275.”

The new whitefficiency allows chefs to maximise output, since they can load 30% more food into the same size cooking cabinet compared to conventional combi ovens.  Requiring up to 70% less energy than conventional cooking appliances, and 20% less on average compared to other combi ovens, the SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency reduces production time by up to 30%.

It combines two new Rational technologies, HighDensityControl® and Efficient LevelControl®, with the established SelfCookingControl® and CareControl®, to produce an intelligent combi oven that not only reduces energy consumption and production time, it creates the perfect cooking environment and when finished, cleans itself.

Efficient LevelControl intelligently monitors the cooking for each rack, controlling and altering the process automatically depending on the state of the food and other external inputs such as doors opening. The SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency learns the way each chef works and adjusts the cooking process accordingly.

SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency is available in six different sizes in gas or electric versions.  With a small footprint (the smallest Model 61 measures 847mm (w) x 771mm (d) and the largest Model 202 measures 1084mm x 996mm) it replaces 40 to 50 percent of all conventional cooking appliances.
