Rational Shows new combi technology at Scothot 2009 Rational Takes Care To ScotHot 2009

Stand 4706, ScotHot, SECC Glasgow, 2-4 March 2009

Rational is showing its new CareControl technology at ScotHot 2009 – and the company reckons it’ll bring some extra cheer to the show. "CareControl means our latest SelfCooking Center will cut running costs by hundreds of pounds a year," says Vic Brown of Rational. "They take up less room than traditional combis and are a piece of cake to look after, too – and the savings make them the ideal combi for these budget-conscious times."
Visitors will be able to taste how well the new SelfCooking Centers cook, as Rational will be running its popular demonstration area on stand 4706. Here chefs will put the combi though its paces, cooking a wide variety of dishes, from breakfasts to banquets.

Combis fitted with CareControl never need descaling, don’t need a water filter and they clean themselves – but only when they need to. CareControl is a world ‘first’ in combi technology and, as well as saving space, energy and costs, it will help protect the environment since the unit’s new ‘care tablets’ are fully biodegradable.

The CareControl technology intelligently monitors what’s being cooked and for how long, telling staff to run the cleaning programme just when it is required. At that point, the operator simply places the new biodegradable tablets (‘care tabs’) into the unit’s drawer (just like the ones found on a domestic dishwasher), puts detergent tablets into the basket in the cooking cabinet, and pushes the button – the Rational then cleans (and cares for) itself. It also determines what level of cleaning is required – for example, if the machine has been used for steaming vegetables, it’ll require less cleaning than if it’s been roasting beef. Eliminating unnecessary cleaning saves time and effort and means running costs are reduced significantly, since less water and chemicals are used.

Descaling and looking after the water filter are the two issues that cause most service problems with combis, and most inconvenience to caterers. CareControl does away with all the limescale problems, using special scale-dissolving ingredients contained in the care tabs to prevent scale building up in the first place. This guarantees maximum operational reliability at all times, without expensive water softeners or time-consuming descaling.

Getting rid of limescale ensures results are perfect – because the steam used to cook food in the combi is as fresh and pure as possible.

CareControl also does away with the water filter – the unit doesn’t need one. Not only does this cut running costs (as there’s no need to service the non-existent water filter) it also saves space: a typical water filter for a combi takes up as much room as a medium-sized suitcase and has numerous pipes connecting it to the mains water supply and the combi.

Rational is running free SelfCooking Center® ‘TeamCooking Live’ seminars throughout Scotland during 2009.
