Following restaurant’s £5,495 fine, CESA offers advice on FOG solutions
Severn Trent Water’s successful prosecution of Café Saffron in Codsall has highlighted the issue of fats, oil and grease (FOG) – and underlined the need for the catering industry to deal with it. The restaurant was fined £5,495 for creating a blockage in the sewer system, as a result of not dealing with FOG from its kitchen. Severn Water described it as a landmark case and it could easily lead to more prosecutions.
CESA, CEDA and FCSI raise £2,000 for Hospitality Action
Competition on the track was fierce at the Joint Industry Go Karting Day at Daytona, Milton Keynes, on 1st July 2015. It was the hottest day of the year and, despite the soaring temperatures and the need to be fully suited up to race, the drivers stayed in good cheer. However, according to the venue, they broke the Daytona record for drinking – soft drinks only, of course.
The event was organised by CESA, with CEDA and the FCSI, and attracted teams from 15 companies, including manufacturers, distributors and consultants. (more…)
If you’re an angler or a motor sports fan involved in catering equipment, CESA is organising two events with CEDA and the FCSI, on behalf of the industry, that should be in your diary.

Fishing will be from 08:30 to 16:30 with the option to continue later. The cost for fishing and refreshments is £105 per person. Vision and Winterhalter managing directors go back to the kitchen floor to launch 2014 competition
To promote the 2014 Kitchen Porter of the Year competition, Winterhalter managing director Stephen Kinkead persuaded Jack Sharkey, chair of CEDA and managing director of Vision Commercial Kitchens, to join him for a shift as a KP in one of London’s busiest restaurants, at Fortnum and Mason.
There’s a video of their exploits on YouTube, but Jack’s plaintive cry halfway through his lunchtime ordeal, “When do we get a break?” will bring a tear to the eye of even the hardest-hearted foodservice professional. Especially if they’ve ever worked in a kitchen. Especially if they were ever a KP. (more…)
