Moffat’s stylish heated display unit keeps food in prime condition
Moffat’s bespoke division has just created a heated display unit with an unusual design – it’s square all over, and is divided into square display areas. The heated Squared Display Servery was originally built for a customer looking for something very different to promote its savoury products, which are served with potato wedges.
New servery at Dragon School uses Moffat counters to fit in with tight installation timetable
The Dragon was founded as the Oxford Preparatory School in 1877 by a group of university dons to educate their own children. It has evolved into a modern co-educational school for 850 children aged four to 13 based on two sites. The school provides a dynamic balance of imagination, originality and academic discipline while preparing pupils for the rigours of life in the 21st century.
Recently the Dragon had the opportunity to upgrade the servery at the Prep, based at its Bardwell Road site, which has a total of 640 day and boarding children. To make sure there was no disruption to pupils all the work had to undertaken in the Easter holidays. Factory First.com Ltd from High Wycombe designed, planned and project-managed the job and carried out all the work within the tight two and a half week timetable.

Moffat launches new innovative ‘Free Flow’ Grab & Go units
In response to customer demand, Moffat is launching a range of innovative free-standing Grab & Go units. The units will be available as hot and cold, cold, hot and ambient models, offering a complete meal deal solution in a compact footprint.
All the models in the range benefit from Moffat’s innovative ‘Free Flow AirFlow’ system, which maintains pre-heated and pre-chilled food at regulated temperatures, without deterioration or drying out. The invisible air curtain flows past the front of the food products reducing the chance of the cold or warm air escaping, maximising efficiency of the unit. Meanwhile, the ‘Free Flow’ system circulates the air inside the carefully designed cabinet, maintaining consistent temperature. Hot products are maintained at temperatures of 65°C to 75°C in ambients above 16°C, while chilled products are maintained between 2°C to 5°C in ambients below 25°C.
Ward kitchens installed by Stephens use bespoke Moffat system to deliver meals
Moffat recently developed a breakfast service trolley for the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, Belfast. The trolley is being used in four new ward kitchens that have been installed by Stephens Catering Equipment Ltd, and was designed specifically for the site, with input from catering staff and Stephens.
As the name suggests, the trolley was created for breakfast service. Features include an ergonomic design, easy handling, a warming drawer for toast and a water boiler – a major advantage is that the trolley runs off a single 13 amp plug.
ATL creates new canteen using sixteen Moffat Versicarte counters
Wren Living, the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom manufacturer, is so busy that it has had to install a second canteen at its ‘The Nest’ head office, which is at Barton upon Humber. The company was after a fast, flexible and cost effective solution that would provide an attractive facility for staff. ATL Commercial Kitchens were awarded the project and they recommended a suite of sixteen Versicarte mobile counters, manufactured by Moffat. Wren was already familiar with the Versicarte range, having previously ordered several for canteens at three of the company’s factories.
“The great thing about Moffat’s Versicartes is that they provide a complete off-the-shelf solution,” says Lisa Graham, sales director at ATL. “We were able to provide everything from tray pickups and cash till stations to hot service counters and grab and go merchandisers, all in a smart, coordinated stainless steel finish.”

New Eye-Catching Pop-up Versicarte Street Food-Style Carts from Moffat
The new Pop-up Versicartes offer operators increased versatility. The range of compact hot, cold and ambient mobile displays are mobile so that they can be set up to serve specific types of food away from the main servery area, reducing bottlenecks.
The Pop-up Versicartes are designed for maximum visual impact. The units house eye-catching magnetic graphics that can be easily removed and changed to promote the latest menu items or to display the venue’s branding. As the signage can be refreshed easily they can help boost meal take up – reflecting new menus, initiatives or to promote specials or themes.
EFD’s clever design uses standard Versicartes to create bespoke effect
The great thing about static, bespoke servery counters is that they can be built to look stunning. The great thing about mobile servery counters is that you can move them. So what if you want a counter that looks stunning, but that you can move at a later date?
That was the issue for Elite Foodservice Design (EFD) of Lowestoft, who were appointed to design and install a kitchen, servery and restaurant in a central Cambridge office block. The new install was for a staff canteen for ARM, the global company that makes mobile phone components. However, ARM was planning to move into a new office block in two years – so everything needed to be able to move with it.
Moffat’s new MHC merchandiser combines hot and cold Grab & Go in one unit
Food-to-go venues are often short of space front-of-house, so operators are increasingly looking for ways to offer a range of tasty Grab & Go menu items on a small footprint. As well as being compact, the display equipment needs to hold foods at safe temperatures, without deterioration, and show it off to its best advantage.
In response to customer demands, Moffat is launching the new MHC Grab & Go food merchandiser which innovatively combines hot and cold display in the one slimline unit. It’s ideal for keeping sandwiches, drinks and salads perfectly chilled, whilst keeping hot snacks such as pasties and sausage rolls at the ideal serving temperature.
