CNP Professional protein shakes and bars help darts player Phil Taylor shift a few stones and step up his game
Darts players are waking up to the idea that in order to win matches they need to adopt a healthy lifestyle, exercise regularly and watch their weight. Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor leads this trend as illustrated by his recent winning form. Phil is on top of his game. In July he stormed to a 13-7 win over James Wade to win his fourth PartyPoker.net Las Vegas Desert Classic followed by a massive 18-9 win to take the Stan James World Matchplay. Both these results come on top of a string of tournament wins this year.

Phil puts his form down to a strict practice regime and adopting a healthy diet plan. At the beginning of the year he lost some matches and felt his form slipping away and his weight creeping up. He knew it was time to turn things around. Since then Phil has managed to lose a staggering four and a half stone, taking his weight down from over 18 stone to around 14 stone.

"In February I started to use protein supplement drinks and protein bars as meal replacements," explained Phil. "I’ve known Kerry Kayes who’s a leading sports nutrition adviser, for five years now and he suggested that I try his protein supplements as a way to lose weight while maintaining fitness and stamina."
Kerry Kayes has developed a range of protein supplements for his own company CNP Professional. Kerry thought it sensible for Phil to try CNP’s products because he could then turn to Kerry for advice and help as he’s had trouble trying to lose weight and stick to diets in the past.

"It’s just not worked before," Phil says. "I usually felt ill and gave in to the usual cravings for junk food." But this time he is staying on top of things and has found a diet plan that really works.
Phil’s winning regime consists of a protein shake for breakfast, half a protein bar and a drink of fruit juice mid-morning, then another protein shake for lunch and the other half of the protein bar mid-afternoon, before a normal, but sensible evening meal.

"I’ve cracked it this time," says Phil. "With this regime I don’t have to worry about what I’m eating and I don’t get cravings for chocolate anymore. I feel really good and never catch cold now. And I’ve lost so much weight that getting around is easier as well."

Phil Taylor is taking CNP Professional’s Pro-MR, an easy to drink high-protein meal replacement. An individual serving of Pro-MR contains only 270 calories but 76% of the daily requirement of proteins. It’s satisfying, filling and easy to digest. He also eats CNP’s Pro-Bar XS – a delicious, chewy but crisp high protein food bar that is low in carbohydrates and simple sugars.

"The shakes are really convenient for when I’m at a tournament," says Phil. "Often I’m on the go from 9am to 8pm without time for a proper meal. In the past I’ve grabbed a fast food snack of burgers and chips – a recipe to pile on the weight. But the Pro-MR shakes are so easy to make that I can have a quick drink at any time to keep my energy levels up without feeling drowsy."

Phil is mainly using the protein shakes and bars as meal replacements to control his weight but he has found that in fact he feels a lot better on his new regime. He’s noticed his stamina has increased and he even feels his eyesight has improved! He’s seeing the darts better and there’s no disputing his unstoppable form.
Since he started his new dietary regime Phil has won 15 out of 18 tournaments. That’s pretty phenomenal in anyone’s books. Of course it can’t all be put down to the Pro-MR shakes and Pro-Bars, Phil practises darts every day for at least two hours and spends three hours in the gym, half of which is spent pounding away on a treadmill!
