Catering equipment: British-Made Bargains, Time To Buy The Flag

Back bar refrigeration from British manufacturer Precision If you’re buying catering equipment in 2009 and looking for a bargain then buy British. That’s the message from Precision, the Norfolk-based catering refrigeration manufacturer. "British-made equipment is more competitive than ever," says Jeremy Hall, sales director of Precision, "there’s never been a better time to ‘buy the flag.’"

He explains that the volatile global financial markets are forcing Euroland and Chinese manufacturers to increase prices.   So much so that lean, efficient UK producers can compete head on. "Once buyers take into account the added value elements such as better sales support, better technical support and UK-specific product development, the home market manufacturer is the clear winner," he says.

Hall adds that Precision’s sales are rising fast as the credit crunch persuades buyers to look for refrigeration products that do the same job, but at a lower price, or with more added value. "Refrigerators are a necessity, not a luxury, so ’emotional’ buying trends tend to be less important – unlike, say, a bespoke range or a brand name combi oven," he says.

"Buyers know they are making sound commercial decisions in moving to a quality product that does the job, without having to pay for the brand name.  What they look for is solid, reliable and functional refrigeration, backed up by a knowledgeable team.
"And that’s what Precision delivers."
