Steelite launches the search for its oldest plates still in use

Still using a true Steelite original? The longest-serving plate could be your ticket to something great!

Steelite has launched a search for the oldest of its plates still in service to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Stoke-on-Trent becoming a city.

Steelite was founded in Stoke-on-Trent in 1983 and has become known as “the strongest name in tableware” thanks to its range of high quality and durable products. The company’s products combine stylish designs with industry-leading durability, backed by a lifetime edge chip warranty. These qualities have made them the first choice for tableware in some of the most discerning restaurants and hotels around the world.

Stoke-on-Trent has stood at the centre of the UK’s pottery industry for centuries and remains celebrated as the world capital of ceramics. To mark its first 100 years as a city, Steelite is inviting businesses to uncover plates made closest to the year of the company’s founding—still in use today—for the chance to win fantastic rewards. Members of the public are also encouraged to join the search, with prizes on offer for the oldest Steelite plates still in service. In true ‘Stokie’ fashion, all it takes is a quick flip to check the backstamp and reveal the plate’s past.

To enter, just flip your plate and snap a clear photo of the backstamp (that’s the mark that shows when and where it was made), along with a pic of it in action. Then simply upload both using this form.

What’s in it for you?

  • The public winner will receive a full Steelite dinnerware set for twelve, complete with premium glassware and cutlery—plus a luxury dining experience for two at your choice of The Flintlock, Cheddleton or the Darjeeling Express, London.
  • The winning business will receive a £5000 refresh of Steelite-made tableware to help them serve in style for years to come.

“At Steelite we are very proud of our connection to Stoke on Trent, our history of craftsmanship and the enduring quality of our tableware,” says Ben Tearall, Vice President of sales in the UKI. “We can’t wait to see what products are still going strong!”

So, whether you’re an industry professional or a foodie with excellent taste in tableware, submit your entry for the chance to win some great prizes.
