Hamilton retires from Moffat after 45 years

Works Director played key role in manufacturer’s success

George HamiltonAfter more than 45 years’ service, 22 of them as Works Director, George Hamilton has announced he will be retiring from E & R Moffat at the beginning of April 2015.

“George has made an immeasurable contribution, helping us to become one of the leading UK manufacturers of foodservice equipment,” says William Moffat, Managing Director.

“There is a ‘thread of George’ running through every aspect of the company,” he adds. “From developing innovative products to planning and specifying state of the art manufacturing technology, he’s helped turn Moffat into the successful, multi-million pound turnover business it is today.”

George joined the business as an apprentice from school. He learned his trade working through Moffat’s various departments, developing a comprehensive understanding of products and manufacturing techniques.

His knowledge and talent were quickly recognised and George soon progressed to Quality Manager, where he guided the company through the early days of quality assurance approvals.  “He played a pivotal role in improving the consistency and quality of the products that have become the cornerstone of many kitchens and food serveries today,” says William.

George’s drive and commitment to the company were further recognised when he was appointed as Works Director in 1992.

Alongside his work in R&D and manufacturing, he has also been closely involved in the development of Moffat’s workforce. “It is no secret that George demands the highest standards from staff,” says William. “He has been responsible for the appointment, education and promotion of countless individuals over the years, many of whom are still with the company today.

“His legacy leaves us in a very strong position to build on his work and continue to develop innovative equipment solutions for today’s foodservice industry.

“All his colleagues at the company wish him good health and lots of enjoyment in his retirement.”
