Food Tech Check: CEDA and CESA confirm the 2014 Catering Equipment Industry Technical Conference

8th October, 2014 – Staverton Park Hotel, Daventry

In-depth discussion on key catering equipment topics, from Health and Safety and Ventilation to “The Staff of the Future”

Richard West is facilitator for the CEDA CESA 2014 Technical ConferenceThe 2014 Catering Equipment Technical Conference is being held at the Staverton Park Hotel near Daventry on the 8th October. Jointly organised by the Catering Equipment Distributors Association (CEDA) and the Catering Equipment Suppliers Association (CESA), the conference is aimed at both the general management and service management of distributors and suppliers.

Richard West returns as the event’s host, presenting a programme featuring a variety of key technical catering topics, from “Health and Safety” to “Kitchen Ventilation” and including a safety legislation update from CESA’s technical consultant, Bryan Whittaker

“We will be looking at a series of complex issues that are of vital concern for anyone involved in catering equipment,” says Nick Oryino, chair of CESA. “These areas are becoming increasingly complex, and keeping up to date with all the developments can be challenging.”

The conference also turns its attention to young people in its “The Staff of the Future” discussion, including technical help on setting up apprenticeships, and how to offer personal development advice.

“Modern legislation can be daunting, but understanding it is essential,” says Jack Sharkey, CEDA chair. “Many regulations being introduced in the next year or so will affect the entire industry. The conference covers this with the “Legislation Update” presentation, which will clarify the key issues.”

Alongside the speaker programme the conference will host three topical interactive workshops, including ‘warewashing – maximum hygiene and minimum energy.’ Led by Derek Maher, MD of Crystaltech Services, it will address the issue of the FSA’s confusing directive, which has led to some EHOs misinforming caterers about the disinfecting efficiency of their warewashing equipment. Other workshops will cover F-Gas regulations and compliance requirements for gas safety inspections.

Recognising that those attending may wish to bring their own industry-specific issues to the conference, there will also be an open debate providing round table discussions.
