Supermac’s Super Refrigeration

Supermac’s is Ireland’s largest and fastest-growing fast food chain. Since the first Supermac’s opened its doors in 1978 in Main Street, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, the company has gone from strength to strength with a turnover well in excess of €82 million and with more than 2500 employees. Now, with over 90 stores throughout Ireland, the company is still expanding.

Much of the success of Supermac’s can be attributed to its intuitive understanding of customers’ tastes: it is acknowledged as the pioneer of such Irish delicacies such as ‘curry chips’ and the ‘snack box’ (chicken and chips). However, when serving large quantities of fast food it is essential to have refrigeration that can react to the demands of serving food fast, so when it came to specifying refrigeration for the new Supermac’s Family Restaurant on Tuam Road in Galway, True refrigeration was very much the order of the day.

According to Jarlath O’Dwyer, Supermac’s marketing manager: “Like any other operator, Supermac’s is looking for energy efficiencies and of course we needed refrigeration that delivered what we wanted in terms of food safety and storage. True came up with what we needed at a competitive price.”

The Tuam Road premises were supplied with True single and double door upright cabinets, prep tables and two salad tables – including one with an over-sized work top – a pizza preparation station and a chest freezer. Because True’s refrigeration systems are larger than the industry standard they pull down and recover temperature quickly, resulting in shorter run-times which saves energy. Less energy use and less run-time lead to lower life-cost and a longer lasting cabinet. The faster pull down time also enhances food safety.

Meanwhile the chain continues to expand throughout Ireland, with the latest stores including the Northern Ireland flagship Supermac’s in Foyleside Shopping Centre, Derry.

The True Refrigeration range is available through dealers across the UK.  All products are backed by a three-year parts and labour warranty, with a five-year warranty on compressors.  For more information visit www.truemfg.co.uk or call True UK on 01709 888888.
