New wireless headset enables clear, fast and discreet communications, enhances service and security
Any retail outlet with more than six tills can save time, enhance security and improve customer service through better communications between staff and supervisors. Now Call-Systems Technology (CST) has signed an exclusive deal with Quail Digital to launch its award-winning wireless DECT headset, the QDigital in the UK. Delivering HD audio that allows instant, crystal clear communications throughout the store, the QDigital has no awkward cables or belt packs – all the user needs is the headset itself.
The QDigital retail system is very easy to operate. Supervisors wear the lightweight, unobtrusive headsets and use them to talk to each other and supervised staff, without engaged tones or delays as with standard phone or text alerts. Wearers can also hear pre-recorded digital voice messages sent by staff from keypads at checkouts and other locations around the store. Such a message might, for example, be ‘customer requires support in aisle 9’ or ‘supervisor required at till 3’, and so on.
“QDigital will help retailers speed their response and improve their profits,” says Bruce McNair, sales director at Call-Systems Technology. “When there are spills at the till, customers who need help with heavy items, a security issue or when a simple price check is needed: ensuring rapid help will save retailers a huge amount of time and money.”
The clarity of the HD signal ensures that the message gets heard, no matter how noisy the store, and the lightweight yet robust headset is unobtrusive, comfortable to wear and easy to use. The headset operates in VOX, talk-lock and push-to-talk modes as standard, so all users are constantly in touch.
Independent ‘before and after’ tests in stores in the USA showed that QDigital not only saved time – for example, price checks were typically 85% faster – but also cut stock losses by around 25%. 85% of store managers said the QDigital system improved customer service and 73% said it improved store security.
The QDigital system can handle up to 12 headsets as a group, plus integral digital messaging from the wireless keypads. With optional repeaters, the system can cover an area of over 9,000 square metres (100,000 square feet). The system comprises a base station, the headsets, a charger for the headsets and messaging keypads.
