Winterhalter now offers free total chemicals audit for all caterers

Chemicals consumption ‘a key area of waste’

Winterhalter now offers free total chemicals audit for all caterers Winterhalter Chemicals, the consumables division of Winterhalter, is now offering chefs and caterers a free audit of their cleaning and hygiene consumption to track down where savings can be made.

The company has made great strides in the last couple of years in reducing energy consumption in its dishwasher and glass washer range. It has introduced developments such as Energy+ (which recycles the heat of washwater and the normally wasted steam), ReTemp (which washes glasses perfectly at temperatures as low as 40C), and ‘intelligent’ rack and flight washers which automatically switch off sections of the machine if they sense there are no items in that section.

The progress in Winterhalter’s technology has been so successful that this has shifted the focus for potential savings from straight energy consumption to ‘consumables’ – chemicals, cleaning and hygiene agents and dosing/dispensing.

Typically, an audit can save money by ensuring that correct dosing levels are set for each machine, and that the right operating procedures are followed. And not only can an audit save money, it can also help to ensure that staff are doing the general cleaning thoroughly, that the right products are used for each job, and that staff are better aware of the correct hygiene and safety procedures to follow.

“We can come in and check how caterers and kitchens use chemicals and identify where savings can be made,” says Stephen Bland, of Winterhalter UK Chemicals division.

“Once you have the latest generation of warewashing equipment, chemicals become a key area of potential savings on running costs. By doing an audit we can normally identify big potential savings. Very few sites are using their equipment and cleaning or hygiene procedures optimally – in either front or back of house.”

Health and safety are also key parts of the Winterhalter audit, Stephen Bland adds. “There’s the danger of the wrong type of chemicals contaminating drains, illegal or non-biodegradable chemicals being used when there are better, ‘greener’ options, or just insufficient safety precautions when handling them. We take a look at all aspects.”

Stephen Bland adds that this isn’t just for sites with Winterhalter installations, and the company is offering the free audits for those with any other systems as well.

“Obviously it’s a chance for us to show what savings and better results can come down the line if a site was to switch over when they next take a look at their warewashing.”

Winterhalter says it guarantees absolutely perfect washing results when the correct procedures are followed. No compromise.

To ensure this, the company needs to ensure tight control of every stage of the process, so Winterhalter not only designs and manufactures quality energy-saving warewashers, it also services and maintains them, formulates the chemicals, arranges delivery when needed, calibrates all dosing equipment and gives careful instructions on exactly how they should be used.

The Chemicals division helps to take total care and total responsibility for delivering clean plates and clean glasses. There is one point of contact, providing one solution. And if anything goes wrong with a dish, glass or utensil washer, people know whom to call.

The full Winterhalter Chemicals range not only covers dosing/dispensing chemicals for all types of warewashing machine, but also manual washing systems such as potwashing, bar, cellar and housekeeping chemicals, floor and carpet systems and even hand care and laundry equipment chemicals.

Winterhalter UK provides a total solution for warewashing, from pre-sales advice to after-sales service, training and maintenance. Alongside its market-leading dish and glasswashers, the company’s range includes utensil washers, advanced water treatment machines, cleaning chemicals and detergents.
