Winterhalter’s Chemical Romance

Chemicals, plus dish & glasswashers, plus service: The three-from-one, total warewash hygiene solution.

Winterhalter P1 Power Diamond 2000 for hard water Winterhalter Chemicals, the consumables division of Winterhalter, has recently relaunched to reflect its role in supporting the world’s most advanced commercial warewashers.

The key in successful warewashing is to control the results from start to finish. So Winterhalter not only designs and manufactures world-beating warewashers, it also services and maintains them. And through Winterhalter Chemicals, the company can formulate and produce exactly the chemicals and supplies needed to ensure perfect results.

The new Winterhalter ReTemp range of chemicals is an example of how the Chemicals division is supporting and extending the company’s product range to enhance results and reduce running costs and energy consumption.

ReTemp is the latest glass washing system that offers perfect results at lower-temperatures. It gives glasses that are clean and cool enough to use straight out of the machine, and the low temperature means markedly reduced energy consumption. The chemicals are an integral part of the new ReTemp feature.

The division was created as more than just a supplies business, says Jim Jiwany, the manager of the Winterhalter Chemicals division. Jim probably knows as much as anyone alive about how to use glass washers and dish washers for best results.

“Warewashers get a hell of a beating,” he says. “Any equipment that uses water and chemicals and is in constant use is going to need TLC every now and again. Most warewashing equipment needs three companies to deal with if anything goes wrong: the manufacturer, the maintenance company and the chemicals supplier.

The Chemicals division helps to take total care and total responsibility for delivering clean plates and clean glasses. There is one point of contact, providing one solution. And if anything goes wrong with a dish, glass or utensil washer, people know whom to call.

Jim is confident of his division’s ability to deliver on its promises: “The machines are top quality; we know we can guarantee results from our own formula detergents; and our service technicians have the expertise and ability to service, repair and calibrate the machines so they give total satisfaction to the end user,” he says.

Being in constant contact with caterers, the Chemicals division’s engineers and sales teams know about changing needs. “For example, there’s a lot of concern about the environment,” adds Jim. “We are constantly asked to recommend ways to reduce energy, water and chemical use.”

Here are Jim Jiwany’s top tips for getting your glasswasher or dishwasher to save energy, water, chemicals and money.

· Set up the dosing of chemicals correctly. Too much is more than a waste of money, it can also reduce washing effectiveness, so you’re also wasting time and energy and reducing quality as perceived by your customers.

· Clean filters regularly. Even a half-blocked filter will mean dishes and glasses aren’t cleaned properly and can damage the machine.

· Choose a dish or glasswasher with a good water filtration system. The better the filtration system, the longer the washwater will last. This means lower consumption of chemicals, energy and water – and thus lower costs.
