Michael Caines MBE’s distinctive approach to cuisine has seen him become one of the most acclaimed chefs in the world, earning two Michelin stars during his time as head chef at Gidleigh Park. For his latest venture, he has transformed Lympstone Manor, a beautiful Grade-2 listed building situated in the Devonshire countryside overlooking the Exe estuary, into his vision of contemporary country house hospitality.

Frima UK expands team: following dramatic growth, Frima looks to double sales

Two more recruits for market-leading multifunctional appliance brand

Martyn Lewis of Frima UK Mohammed Khalid Samad of FrimaFrima UK has expanded its sales team with the appointment of two more regional sales managers.  Martyn Lewis will be responsible for the South East, while Mohammed Khalid Samad will be part of the team covering the London area.  They join as Rational UK takes over the running and supporting of the Frima brand in the UK.

Cutting Kitchen Consumption: energy down by 34%; water down by 53%

Research by Zurich University shows that multifunctional appliances deliver significant savings and improve BREEAM rating

Frima VarioCooking Center at ABB Schweiz AGResearchers at Zurich University studied the energy consumption in a commercial catering kitchen before and after a major refurbishment.  They found that, by switching from conventional appliances to the latest multifunctional cooking technology, the kitchen reduced energy consumption by 34% and water consumption by 53%.  Moreover, the new kitchen appliances were able to produce more food from less space.

Since kitchens are a major centre of energy consumption centre in a commercial building, the switch to modern, multifunctional appliances can also impact on a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) rating.

FRIMA's first Partner Convention attracted over 100 distributors and consultants from around the worldFRIMA’s first Partner Convention attracted over 100 distributors, planners and consultants to the company’s head office in Wittenheim, France.  No less than 24 of them came from the UK and Ireland, representing 19 different business partners.

“Of course this was a great opportunity to show our partners our new factory and give them some details about FRIMA’s new product developments,” says Graham Kille, managing director of FRIMA UK.  “However, another key driver was to get us all together to network and exchange ideas.

“We are extremely grateful to all those who accepted our invitation, the more so as they gave up two days of their valuable time for us.  We’ve had great feedback, and I know they felt the convention was well worth the investment.” (more…)

Lee Hall to work with distributors to increase CookingLive demo sites

Lee Hall of FRIMA UKFRIMA UK has expanded its sales team with the appointment of Lee Hall as Regional Sales Manager for the East Midlands and East Anglia.

Lee is an experienced chef – he started in kitchens at the tender age of 14 and subsequently worked in a variety of venues including gastro pubs, five star hotels and spas.  He’s also an experienced foodservice sales professional whose previous companies include MKG Foods and Corkers Crisps, where he controlled the UK wholesale division, working with multiple foodservice operators and major retailers such as WH Smith and Amazon.

“I’m thrilled to be working with such a well-known and respected manufacturer of catering equipment,” he says.  “Being at the cutting edge of cooking technology is really exciting – working with a range of equipment that brings genuine, clear benefits to caterers’ businesses, especially in terms of reducing time and costs, compared to traditional appliances.”

It serves over 200 covers a day but, like many urban restaurants, kitchen space is limited. This means catering equipment needs to be as efficient as possible, while delivering the best cooking results. Recently head chef Jeremy Bloor installed a FRIMA VarioCooking Center. He and his team are so impressed they are about to install a second one.

“I first saw the FRIMA at a catering exhibition,” says Jeremy. “Its versatility and ease of use were very impressive.”
