Thomas Danks becomes Taylor UK’s new ice cream expert

Taylor UK’s new development chef ready to take your ice cream to the next level

With the popularity of ice cream and other frozen treats continuing to grow, Taylor UK has appointed Thomas Danks its new Gelato and Ice Cream development chef to provide an even better service for new and existing customers.  He will be helping new customers to choose the right equipment for making ice cream and gelato, as well as helping to develop recipes and costings to ensure their profitability. He will also be helping to “future proof” existing customers by expanding their portfolio.

Thomas, 34, completed NVQ’s 1-3 in food preparation, service and cooking before gaining an FDA in culinary arts management at University College, Birmingham. He started his career working in French ski resorts, eventually becoming head chef. Since then he has worked for most of the major groups in the UK, ending up at Loungers as a senior head chef. He then joined HTG Trading as culinary and support manager, before his promotion to the new role.

Ice cream is one of Thomas’s specialities and one of his favourite foods. “If I had to pick a favourite flavour, I would have to say all of them,” he says. “However, I made a delicious black cherry cheesecake last week that’s going to be hard to beat!”

As well as enjoying ice cream he also plays the piano and takes part in poker tournaments at the weekend.

Thomas is excited about his new role. “This promotion is an amazing opportunity,” he says. “I’m looking forward to continue learning from my colleagues as well as developing the batch ice cream side of the business. Taylor UK is an amazing company to work for, every single one of my colleagues is amazing.”
