Rational Flexscription: the ultra-flexible leasing option for schools

Exclusive leasing deal offers ultra-low rates, too

Flexscription is a new leasing programme launched by Rational.  It’s been developed in conjunction with CF Capital PLC (CF), one of the UK’s largest leasing companies, and is exclusively for Rational customers in LEA maintained and Academy schools.

Within the new programme, schools can lease a Rational iCombi Pro, iCombi Classic, iVario Pro or iVario at highly competitive rates.“Healthy, nutritious meals are high on the agenda for the education sector,” says Simon Lohse, managing director of Rational UK.  “Our partnership with CF allows us to provide cutting edge thermal cooking solutions at an affordable price for our customers.”

As the name suggests, Flexscription is designed to offer schools the greatest flexibility when it comes to leasing.  It’s based on an Operating Lease, which is required for compliancy within LEA/Academy status schools.  Under an Operating Lease, the leasing company retains the risks and rewards of ownership, and it will also retain an investment in the equipment being leased, known as the ‘residual value’. Although the school will not own the equipment at the end of the agreement, they can choose what to do with it, based on their specific needs.

Operating Leases usually have a shorter duration than the economic life of the equipment, so Flexscription has a maximum initial term of 36 months.  With Flexscription, schools have a variety of options at the end of the lease.  For example, they can keep the equipment for the minimum term of 36 months, and then simply hand the equipment back to CF.  Alternatively, they may decide to extend into a secondary period on a rolling basis, with no time constraints.

Another alternative is a 12 month extension period, at a significantly reduced rate.  There’s also the option of a 24 month extension, at an even more reduced rate.

Finally, there’s the option to pay a one-off fee for use of the Rational appliance until end of life, estimated to be about ten years.

“A key aspect of Flexscription is that it provides schools with total transparency in terms of the ‘front and back end’ options and processes,” says Leah Wright, CF’s head of the commercial catering channel.

To help schools with budget constraints, Rational and CF have worked hard to make the Flexscription rates as low as possible.  For example, a six-grid Rational iCombi Classic would cost £6 per day, based on the list price, for a 36 month term Flexscription lease.

School caterers who are new to Rational’s cooking systems may well want to see one in action before committing to a lease.  Rational offers virtual demonstrations with its Live online series, where school caterers can see chefs using the cooking systems and take part in a question and answer session with the expert host.  For more information visit www.rational-online.com/gb/live
