Cleaner, Meaner, Greener Warewashing Machine: Winterhalter Launches Hybrid Concept

Winterhalter shows the new PT pass through warewasher at Hotelympia 2014Winterhalter will launch a brand new undercounter warewasher, the DeMatik, at Hotelympia 2014.  Most of the details are still under wraps, but the essential feature is an integral hybrid water treatment system that delivers close to reverse-osmosis (RO) standards of cleaning, but uses much less water than traditional RO systems.

“RO is widely recognised as the best way to get pure water and great cleaning results,” says Stephen Kinkead, managing director of Winterhalter UK.  “However, a key issue is that the reverse osmosis process means up to 60% of the mains water is wasted.  Our new DeMatik warewasher has an integral treatment system that part-demineralises the water.  It gives outstanding cleaning results, but uses a fraction of the water compared to reverse osmosis.

“It’s a cleaner, meaner, greener warewashing machine.”

Winterhalter will also show its new PT pass through dishwasher, which is the first warewasher on the market to be fitted with energy-saving heat exchange technology as standard.  By capturing waste heat generated during the washing process, and recycling it to heat up the fresh water feed, it can save up to 10% in energy costs.

Hotelympia also sees the launch of the 2014 Kitchen Porter of the Year competition.  Following a hugely successful debut in 2013, Winterhalter plans to make its 2014 event even bigger and better, with £12,000-worth of warewashing equipment up for grabs, plus £500 cash and a meal for the winner’s team at a Michelin-star restaurant.
