Glasswasher for 3D Glasses

Winterhalter develops system to wash glasses used for 3D TV and films

The first 3D football match was broadcast in some UK pubs at the beginning of 2010.  The technology will be coming to hundreds of other pubs and clubs in the near future. But to experience the full 3D effect the viewer needs to wear a special pair of glasses, supplied by the establishment.

However this poses a hygiene problem for pubs and clubs. No-one really wants to put a pair of used glasses onto their face. Even though the establishments themselves are not sterile environments, it is the glasses’ close proximity to the eyes and face that causes concern among both suppliers and users.

Winterhalter, the leading warewasher manufacturer and specialist in dishwashing hygiene, has developed a special programme for its UC series undercounter glasswasher tailored for washing 3D glasses. What’s more, as well as washing 3D glasses, it can wash all the regular drinking glasses that are used in the bar.

The new 3D glass function button keeps the washing and rinsing temperature below 60 degrees C and adjusts the concentration of detergent and rinse aid used. This combination produces clear 3D glasses, without any streaking or clouding that could detract from the 3D effect, while ensuring that the glasses are totally hygienic.

A gentler wash action ensures that no damage is done to the 3D glasses during the process. For optimum hygiene and to minimise handling, Winterhalter has also developed a special rack that holds up to 15 pairs of glasses.

Winterhalter provides a total solution for warewashing, from pre-sales advice to after-sales service, training and maintenance.  Alongside its market-leading dish and glasswashers, the company’s range includes utensil washers, advanced water treatment machines, cleaning chemicals and detergents.  For further details, call Winterhalter on 01908 359000, see www.winterhalter.com/uk-en/, or www.winterhalter-scout.biz or email info@winterhalter.co.uk.
