One of the benefits of working in the countryside is the lack of distractions. You can get more done in a quieter environment, and it helps us make each of our clients feel they are our only client.
However, August has proved particularly troublesome for us. For over a month now, the long country lane leading to our office has been blocked with roadworks while a new sewer system is installed - leading to a two-mile detour.
Two days last week our power was cut off (unrelated to the roadworks) while the local electricity company did surgery on trees theatening power lines. And that wasn’t all…

Here’s something for NPD freaks - Breakfast on a stick:
Mix one egg with other ingredients of choice. Put results on a stick.
That’s about all the recipe requirements involved at the Illinois State Fair’s newest culinary contest, the battle to make the best breakfast on a stick.
The state’s agriculture department and the American Egg Board deemed two entries worthy of first place Saturday. Beverly Cutler’s sensational sunrise dippers ? sausage, egg and cheese wrapped in a biscuit with a side of gravy ? shared the top prize with Anthony Karas’ bacon-wrapped savoury buttermilk crepes.
Rachael Eden won the junior division with slightly healthier fare featuring curry, bean sprouts and snow peas in a wonton wrapper. And eggs and a stick.
