Outside Edge – A New Spin on Aldborough Green Cricket

Aldborough Players present ‘Outside Edge’

11th and 12th June 2010 at Aldborough Community Centre

Nick Wade rehearses as Dennis in the Aldborough Players' production of Outside Edge There is a long tradition of cricket on Aldborough Green. And this summer, to celebrate, the Aldborough Players are putting a new spin on the action by staging Outside Edge – a cricketing comedy penned by Richard Harris.

The staff at The Publicity Works are keen members of Aldborough Players, both in the summer productions and the annual Winter pantomime. Outside Edge sees TPW’s Alison Haynes on-stage as Sharon, and is produced by TPW’s very own Fiona Morrison and our designer, Claire Knight.

Set in the late seventies, Outside Edge follows the fortunes of Old Scarrow CC one summer’s afternoon. Various players and their respective wives and girlfriends don’t seem quite as keen as the team captain to annihilate the Lowestoft Railway Veterans.

Rehearsals for the production are well underway including a few lessons on techniques for those players unversed in the art of wielding a cricket bat. The captain’s wife is also perfecting a mean Victoria Sponge or two as her cricketing teas are “renowned throughout the Norfolk league”!

Performances of Outside Edge are on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th June at 7.30pm at Aldborough Community Centre. Tickets are £6.00 including a welcoming drink and are available from Days Stores and Aldborough Post Office.
