Aylsham market place to host a ‘Cake Stall of Delights’ for charity

Cake lovers should put May 4th in their diary!

Some of Norfolk’s finest home bakers will be putting their ovens, mixers and trays through their paces to create a ‘Stall of Delights’ to raise funds for Norfolk based charity, Hospice Ethiopia UK.

Cakes, scones, biscuits and preserves will all be available to buy on the stall in Aylsham market square on Saturday May 4th.  All are homemade and there will be a selection of ‘free from’ goodies available, too, for those with dietary requirements.

Sue Mumford is chair of Hospice Ethiopia UK.  “These events are so important for us, not only to raise vital funds for the hospice in Ethiopia, but also to raise our profile.  We’re a very small charity, run by volunteers on a shoestring!  We rely on the generosity of Norfolk people – here’s hoping they like our cakes!”

Hospice Ethiopia is based in Adis Ababa.  It has no government funding.  It looks after hundreds of desperate people who, without their help, would die alone and in great pain.  The hospice also is a centre of excellence, training medics who in turn are bringing relief to thousands of people in Ethiopia and beyond.

The charity Hospice Ethiopia UK, based in Aldborough, North Norfolk, is a major source of funds for the hospice.  Evey penny it raises goes to help the work in Ethiopia.

Hospice Ethiopia UK is also hosting a ‘Cheesy Auction of Promises’ on Saturday 8th June at St Michael’s Community Hall in Reepham.  It includes a cheese and wine sampling, with food supplied by Norfolk’s own Mrs Temple’s Cheeses.  Lots include holidays, works of art and dinners.  Tickets cost £10 – for more information email Sue at info@hospiceethiopia.org.uk.
