Wall-mounted fridges ‘a first’ at La Chapelle

Jeff Galvin at La Chapelle with Precision wall cabinetsCCE Group has just completed a £half million project at La Chapelle. Their brief? To create ‘the best kitchen in London’ for Chris and Jeff Galvin in their prestigious restaurant, housed in a Grade II listed former assembly hall in Spitalfields.

As with many historic buildings, space was at a premium and every opportunity was taken to create extra storage. A first for CCE was the installation of wall-mounted refrigeration from British manufacturer Precision. "Due to space constraints we had to ‘think outside the box’" says Andy Wood of CCE. "Precision has a very flexibly approach to manufacturing and these cabinets allowed us to give the Galvins the extra refrigerated storage they wanted."

The Precision wall units have glass doors and are sited at eye-level to enable chefs to see at a glance what’s inside. They are available in one-, two- and three-door versions, with options including solid or glass doors, pass-through models and remote or integral refrigeration systems. Designed to accommodate 1×1 gastronorm containers, they offer capacities from 150 to 450 litres.

Precision also supplied the under-counter refrigeration for the kitchen at La Chapelle. Again, the fridges supplied reflect Precision’s ability to adapt their designs to suit the customer’s needs. "To aid the smooth operation of the kitchen, we got Precision to supply under-counter units with open wells cut into the tops," explains Andy Wood. "We made gastronorm-sized cut-outs through the worktops. Chefs put their ingredients in pans and into the cut-outs, which are sited over the wells, so the fridges keep them cool."
