Morris: A Life With Bells On

Just last week I discovered this film – Morris: A Life With Bells On. I’m sure it’s destined for big things but at the moment you can only see it if you are lucky enough to live in the west country or catch a clip on their website. http://www.morrismovie.com/

Morris a life with bells onIt’s one of those wonderful films that is quintessentially British. It’s a feature length comedy shot in the popular spoof documentary format and follows the fortunes of one Morris dancing team and it’s leader Derecq Twist who is keen to add other elements to Morris dancing – Extreme Morris.

A campaign is underway to get a major distribution deal for the film. There’s an online petition and even a Facebook Group.

Eight years ago I introduced a group of Morris dancers into our local pantomime as ‘right royal entertainment’. Do you think I had a premonition that there were bigger things in store for Morris dancing?

  1. If the trailer is anything to go by the film will be excellent – it’s just a shame that it looks like it won’t be seen in NW England.

  2. Alexander, I’m afraid it still hasn’t got a national distributor, so it looks like it’ll languish a while on the studio shelves.
