Chorus of approval for fresh olive oil delivery

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY:

Mother’s Garden New Harvest Run adds Covent Garden to its itinerary
The Mother’s Garden New Harvest Run, the race to get the new season’s fresh olive oil into London’s kitchens, has added a prestigious stop to its itinerary.

One of the first points of call in central London will now be the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. A group of the chorus regularly sing the praises of Mother’s Garden, the cold-pressed arbequina olive oil from the village of El Masroig in Catalonia.  The singers have asked for a delivery of the new harvest as soon as it arrives in the capital, and delivery is expected on Thursday November 27th 2008.

Fresh harvest oil – the juice of the fruit, straight from the tree to mill, into the bottle and then into the kitchen within the week – is a gourmet experience little known to people in the UK.
The New Harvest Run is the brainchild of Maggie Whitman and Martin Kirby, founders of Mother’s Garden. In the initial 2008 run Maggie and Martin will be delivering to London and various points in East Anglia right up to North Norfolk, and they will then be holding tasting sessions in Norwich and Swaffham. They will be available for photo opportunities and short interviews along the route.

“We’re doing the New Harvest Run to bring the fresh olive oil message home to the UK,” says Martin Kirby.  “But it’s strictly a once-a-year thing. In January we will resume our conventional through-the-year fresh-bottled shipments to shops, foodies and chefs.”

Mother’s Garden Priorat Olive Oil, available to delis through Fratelli Camisa (www.camisa.co.uk), is already recognised by foodies in the UK. As well as the Delia cookbook listing and Great Taste Gold Star, it is featured in Judy Ridgway’s ‘Best Olive Oil Buys Around The World’ (Gardiner Press, 2005).
