CAR INSURANCE NEWS: WHEN IT’S IN STORE MAKE SURE IT’S COVERED – WITH MORE THAN A BLANKET!

Vehicles in storage aren't covered by household insurance warns Flux Vehicles in storage aren’t covered by household insurance warns Flux

As the credit crunch bites people are laying up their second (or third) cars, kits, classics, or other ‘spare’ vehicles in a bid to cut monthly expenditure. But before they stop their insurance payments they should think carefully, warns Adrian Flux Insurance Services. In most cases their vehicles will not be covered by a household insurance policy in the event of fire or theft.

"We recommend people contact their insurance company and change their cover to ‘fire and theft only’ if they decide to take their vehicle off the road," says Gerry Bucke of Flux. "That way they can be sure they won’t be caught short if something nasty happens."

Flux offers extremely competitive ‘fire and theft only’ policies on vehicles that are to be taken off the road for any length of time. Plus, when it’s time to go back on the road, a quick phone call to Flux will arrange appropriate cover immediately. It’s really that easy.

There are other precautions to take when storing vehicles, of course, such as giving them a good polish, protecting the paintwork from damage with a blanket (especially in the case of classic cars), cleaning out any rubbish and changing the oil and oil filter.

Adrian Flux aims to offer cheaper car insurance and has a huge range of policies for the motoring enthusiast. For details contact the Adrian Flux quote line on 0800 505 3000, email the company at quotes@adrianflux.co.ukwww.adrianflux.co.uk, or see the Flux homepage on
