Scotsman launches ice machine configurator app for iPhones and Android
For operators and specifiers who don’t know which ice machine they need, there’s an app that can help. With the Scotsman Ice app, the user simply goes to the ice machine configurator, selects what sort of ice they want from a scrolling menu (gourmet cube, dice ice, flake ice, nugget ice and so on) and then selects how much ice per day they want, again from a menu. The app shows them which Scotsman ice machines are suitable for their selections.
“The app is a great tool for operators, buyers, dealers and consultants,” says Simon Aspin, commercial director of Hubbard Systems, which markets the Scotsman range in the UK. “I’m not aware of there being anything else quite like it in the ice machine world. It’s dead easy to use and navigate, and it’s packed with useful information.”
Visitors are impressed by versatile nugget
On Jan 31 Hubbard Systems took a group of consultants to visit the Scotsman factory in Milan. The trip was an opportunity for the visitors to find out about Scotsman’s latest nugget ice machine technology.
“Nugget machines are incredibly efficient – but it’s difficult to explain the technology without seeing them in action,” says Simon Aspin, commercial director of Hubbard Systems. “The new nugget icemakers were very well received. Nugget ice is relatively new to the UK. It’s very versatile – for example, if can be used both for drinks and for food display – and its method of production is very eco-friendly. Plus, a small machine can make big volumes of ice.”
NW308 fits industry-standard global footprint and is easy to look after
Hubbard Systems’ new Scotsman icemaker is a modular cuber that’s designed to fit in the global 560mm / 22inch footprint. The NW308 is the latest in the NW Series and makes the classic six-sided 12g dice ice cube. It can also be supplied to make the 6g half-dice ice cube. Its space-saving footprint is highlighted by the fact that it vents from the top – so it can be built in to tight gaps, with no need for side clearance.
Expert will determine the type of ice and machine most suitable for a location
Hubbard Systems is offering no-obligation site surveys to help operators decide which kind of ice machine best suits their needs.
Recent years have seen a proliferation of the types of ice available, with each having specific applications. For example the gourmet supercube is a pure and slow-melting ice ideal for classic on-the-rocks drinks, while places with high peaks in demand may find dice cubes more suitable. Flake ice has a wide range of applications, from cocktails to food display. Nugget ice is increasingly popular in the US and is making in-roads here, too. (more…)
Hubbard Systems has launched ice makers that it claims are the smartest yet when it comes to sustainability. The Scotsman Prodigy-MV machines offer a sustainable and reliable way to create fresh, attractive ice.
Scotsman Prodigy-MV machines are self-monitoring modular ice makers. The front-located AutoAlert indicator lights make upkeep practically foolproof by constantly communicating information about the machine’s operating status, using easy-to-understand universal symbols. It signals when it’s time to perform routine maintenance or to call for service – before it is an emergency. (more…)
Hubbard Ice Systems launches machines making ultra-cool, extra large ice
The supercube or thimble is recognised as the gourmet ice cube for drinks service in terms of cooling, slow melting and crystal clear appearance. Typically machines make supercubes in a small (8g) or standard (20g) size. A few are available to make large, 39g cubes. But these days some operators are looking for more. Something designer, something that makes a big, bold statement. Now Hubbard Ice Systems, which markets the Scotsman range in the UK, has launched the ‘super-supercuber’ ice machine. It makes giant ‘XL’ cubes, weighing 60g, which look stunning in the glass.
