Market-leading ice systems manufacturer Scotsman is set to launch a host of new products at Host in Milan. Details will be unveiled at the Show, but they will include new energy- and water-saving icemakers, new modular supercube machines and a new ice dispenser aimed at the growing market for self-serve ‘bottomless’ drinks.
“The past few months have been a hectic and very exciting time in terms of R&D,” says Simon Aspin, commercial director of Hubbard Systems, which markets the Scotsman brand in the UK. “The ice making technologies and designs we’ll be showing will set new benchmarks in all sorts of areas, such as sustainability, high production in a small footprint and ease of use.”
Scotsman’s new hotel guest self-serve ice machine is user-friendly, hygienic and quiet
Making sure guests have a ready supply of ice is increasingly important in today’s hotels. Usually the self-serve unit will be placed in lobbies, lounges or hotel bedroom corridors, and usually most of the ice will be taken at night. So apart from ensuring that the ice itself is top quality, hotel owners are looking for machines that are easy to use, as hygienic as possible and operate quietly – to minimise disruption for other guests.
Now Hubbard Systems has launched a new Scotsman ice dispenser, the DXG35, that’s designed to deliver the ideal self-serve ice provision in hotels while making superior ice cubes, in the form of crystal clear, long lasting gourmet supercubes. Its stainless steel exterior is attractive and tough while the simple electromechanical controls ensure reliability and consistent production. The DXG35 can produce up to 30kg of ice per day – the equivalent of 1500 x 20g supercube ice cubes – and has an 11kg storage bin, allowing it to cope easily with peaks in demand.
Scotsman superdice: great looking ice that’s gentler on the blender
Creamy Iced Coffee
Superdice is a new ice cube that combines the benefits of the classic gourmet or thimble supercube with those of a standard dice cube. It’s crystal clear and longer lasting, so it looks great for presentation in classic iced coffees. However, it’s also a softer ice cube, so it’s ideal for blended drinks, such as café frappé, since the softer cube is gentler on blender blades. Its versatility makes it a truly all-round cube for coffee shops and any sites offering a full coffee menu.
Scotsman MC46-Split is smaller, quieter and more flexible
The Scotsman MC46-Split from Hubbard Systems offers big ice production in a small footprint, by taking the compressor & condenser away from the ice-making unit. The compact size makes it ideal for places where space is at a premium. Meanwhile, separating the refrigeration system keeps noise and waste heat away from the kitchen or bar area. Its modular design means additional units can easily be linked together if greater production capacity is required.
Building on an established reputation for offering excellent customer support, Hubbard Systems has appointed George Fell as a new Business Development Manager for Northern England and Scotland. Hubbard Systems distributes the Scotsman range of ice makers, including the new intelligent Scotsman Prodigy machines, which offer a sustainable and reliable way to create fresh, attractive ice.
Iconic boutique hotel installs a Scotsman in the cellar
The Hoste is one of Norfolk’s most iconic boutique hotels, lying in the heart of the Royal Coast. It has a great reputation, both with travellers and locals, for individual style and excellent service. Six out of ten people who stay at the hotel become regular guests. With 62 bedrooms, three restaurant areas, two bars and a walled garden for functions, as well as an outside drinking area, the hotel can be serving as many as 520 customers at any one time. And that calls for a lot of ice!
New Ice Tower 56 capable of producing ice non-stop all day
With the demand for ice increasing across the catering and hospitality industries, and trends like self-dispensing “bottomless drinks” sweeping the fast food and family dining sectors, operators are looking for reliable and economical sources of large amounts of ice. However, as pressure on space continues, they also need ice machines that are as compact as possible.
To help meet this demand, Hubbard Systems has launched the Scotsman Ice Tower 56, which is capable of producing 485kg of high-quality nugget ice in a 24 hour period. What’s more, the machine is an undercounter unit, measuring just 539mm(w) X 664mm(d) X 720mm(h), with a counter top dispenser.
Your ice maker is going to need to be in top form to provide all your cubes for the Christmas rush. The ice experts at Hubbard, who distribute the Scotsman range of ice makers, offer a few tips:
Hubbard Systems introduces new Scotsman hydrocarbon models
Hydrocarbons are well known for their low environmental impact and have been
used in small capacity and reduced refrigerant-charge systems with great success. With the development of more efficient compressors this greener refrigerant is now available for bigger ice machines.
Hubbard Systems launches Scotsman superflaker with hydrocarbon refrigerant
Flake ice is used extensively in a variety of sectors, from food processing to fisheries to pharmaceuticals, not only to refrigerate products but also to protect perishables. With pressure growing to reduce industry’s impact on the environment, Hubbard Systems has launched the Scotsman MF 57, a modular flake ice machine that runs on an eco-friendly hydrocarbon refrigerant, R290.
