Kevin Berkins runs two of the best pubs in the North West. The Fence Gate Inn near Burnley was National Freehouse of the Year 2007/8 while the Eagle at Barrow is fast becoming a favourite with locals, since Kevin re-launched the venue late in 2008.

Winterhalter’s resource-saving technology helps pub group’s carbon project Managed pub company The Spirit Group is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 17% by 2010. Carbon Project Manager Elaine O’Connell says that while it is a tough target, it makes sound business sense. A key area she focussed on was warewashing, working with Winterhalter to look at ways the specialist manufacturer’s new technologies could save resources.

“My staff chose it,” says Paul Dunn, Head of Catering and Events at Dulwich College, the legendary south London public school. He’s talking of the new Winterhalter MTR multi-tank rack dishwasher, which the school installed in the summer of 2008. The caterers of Dulwich College see a lot of work during term time, producing up to 1,600 meals a day, including breakfast and supper for 150 boarders and residential staff, and an impressive 1,300 for lunch.
