The Sharps

The Sharps, described by the Norwich Playhouse as ‘one of Norfolk’s most exciting rock bands’, and by KLFM radio as ‘brilliant’, are a three piece who met at High School in North Norfolk. Their music is a combo of rock, Brit pop and prog, with a dash of funk, and they mix grunge guitar riffs with driving rhythms and close harmonies. Their crowd-pleasing live act is full of energy and dynamism. They are:drummer Sam Evans and twins Callum Morgan, bass and vocals, and Kieran Morgan, guitar and vocals

Norfolk Indie Funk Rockers End Tour with Hometown Gig

The Sharps play Open, Norwich on Saturday March 17th

Norfolk’s up-and-coming indie funk rockers The Sharps play Open in Norwich on March 17th.  The band’s latest single, ‘My Love Ain’t Gonna Save You’, has been creating a buzz – at their last London gig (25th Feb 2012), at The Tower Tavern, music industry VIPs came to check them out on the strength of it.  The band comprises Callum Morgan, on bass and vocals, his twin Kieran, on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Sam Evans on drums.  The boys met at Aylsham High School and the Norwich gig ends a mini tour that included dates in Southampton, London and Harlow.  (more…)

Sharps’ new silent movie pop video

Norfolk’s up and coming indie funk rockers, The Sharps, have just released their new single ‘My Love Ain’t Gonna Save You.’  The band, which is currently being shadowed by two London-based management companies, has also made a video for the track, inspired by silent movies such as The Artist and The General.

Rock Band Bounces Back

Sharps enlist top producer for latest EP, launching at the Marquee, Norwich, on September 11Midnight State original Group 2
North Norfolk four-piece The Sharps launch their new EP at the Marquee, Rose Lane, Norwich, on Saturday 11 September. The band’s bid for glory in the 2010 Live & Unsigned competition hit the wall after drummer Sam Evans was seriously injured, just before the semi final, in a mountain biking accident. Now the boys are back writing songs, gigging and recording.

The EP, called Midnight State, features three new songs penned by bassist Callum Morgan. The project was overseen by Ben Fenner, the Norfolk-born producer who spent time away from his London base to record The Sharps in a temporary studio set up in Felmingham over the summer.

Sharps’ drummer’s accident scuppers preparations for semi finals of Live & Unsigned 2010

The Sharps (l to r, Sam, Darby, Callum and Kieran) The judges were "wowed" by Norfolk four-piece The Sharps in round one of Live & Unsigned 2010, the biggest original music competition in the UK for unsigned bands and artists. Then, in the quarter finals, they said they loved the band’s "raw energy". That means the Sharps are just a semi-final away from a gig at the O2 arena and a possible two-year contract.

Norfolk Invades London To Help Sharps In UK’s Biggest Battle Of The Bands

Media coverage encouraged fans to support Norfolk band’s bid for glory

The Sharps in action Norfolk band The Sharps have reached the semi finals of the UK’s biggest battle of the bands competition, Live and Unsigned 2010. Competing against some of London’s top unsigned acts at the Beck Theatre, Hayes, on Sunday March 28, The Sharps played original material and a cover. Judges praised the four-piece for its ‘raw energy’ and said their original number was especially strong – and put them through to the semi-final of the competition.

Norfolk Band wows London judges in the UK’s biggest original music competition

‘Brilliant’ Sharps could be playing the O2!

The Sharps (l-r, Darby, Callum, Sam and Kieran)The Sharps from North Norfolk have wowed judges in London and sailed through the audition stage of Live and Unsigned. The Sharps will now be competing against the other most talented bands and artists in the country at the live shows of Live and Unsigned 2010 – all in a bid to be signed.
