Precision unveils MEPS models

British manufacturer increases energy efficiency of products – with no increase in price

Following the implementation of Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS), all relevant Precision products now have energy labels, along similar lines to those found on domestic appliances.   At this stage MEPS does not apply to products such as blast chillers, bottle coolers and prep counters with ingredients wells.

“Our engineers have been beavering away to make sure Precision products are amongst the most efficient on the market,” says Nick Williams, managing director of Precision.  “Many will look the same, but behind the scenes nearly all the components have changed and use the latest, most energy-efficient technology throughout. Most of the new range will have eco-friendly and ultra-energy-efficient R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant as standard – we plan to be as close as possible to 100% hydrocarbon during 2017.

“The upgrades mean that, for example, our top-selling MCU211 two door counter, HPU150 undercounter refrigerator and LPU150 undercounter freezer are all ‘A’ rated.”

Despite the enhanced performance of the new products, and the costs associated with upgrading their components, Precision has decided not to increase prices.  In fact, the company has announced that there will be no price increase until January 2017.

Precision has worked hard to keep dimension changes on the new models to a minimum.  The only products with (slightly) changed exterior dimensions are the single door gastronorm uprights, the MPT601 and LPT601, which are 40mm deeper and 85mm higher than their predecessors.

Due to the length of the test procedures (testing each model takes three days), and Precision’s extensive range, unfortunately a few of the company’s more specialist products have had to be temporarily removed from sale in the EU, until the company has time to complete design changes and testing.  They include freezers with drawer options, wall cabinets and mobile banqueting carts. “We will let the market know as soon as these models become available again.” says Nick.

New spec sheets are already available to download from the Precision website.  “Customers should check back for the latest spec sheets, as the new models will be continually updated as we continue to innovate and improve on the efficiency of our products,” says Nick.
