New award celebrates family businesses in the catering industry

Winterhalter sponsors Commercial Catering Family Business of the Year

Ralph Winterhalter 3Family businesses are the backbone of the catering industry.  They not only run restaurants, pubs, groups and venues up and down the country, but also make up many of the suppliers of food, equipment and services on which the industry depends.  They share a passion and commitment for their industry and use their family nature and values to drive successful businesses.

Now there’s an award to recognise the contribution these family businesses make.  The Commercial Catering Family Business of the Year is a new addition to the established Family Business of the Year Awards.  Sponsored by warewashing specialist Winterhalter, itself a family business, the new award culminates in a champagne reception for all shortlisted family firms, which will take place at the Mayfair Hotel, London, on June 11, 2015.

The awards are open to every commercial catering business in the UK, and they are free to enter, at familybusinessunited.com.

“Many of the successes of the catering industry are the results of ideas that originate in family businesses.  These awards are all about celebrating those achievements,” says Stephen Kinkead, managing director of Winterhalter UK.  “Foodservice operators, suppliers, manufacturers… any family business involved in the catering industry, however large or small, should enter.

“Winterhalter is delighted to be involved in the award.  We are a successful family-owned business – Ralph Winterhalter, the grandson of the founder, now runs the company worldwide.  The company’s success, as well as its commitments to its customers, its workforce, its business partners and the environment, are founded on its strong family values.”
