QSR ConnectSmart kitchen automation set to help Union Jacks fly high

Jamie Oliver’s new high profile venture, Union Jacks, has announced that it will be using QSR Automations’ high tech kitchen automation to help deliver the same quality standards of food as customers experience in the Jamie’s Italian chain.  The QSR range is marketed and serviced in the UK by Edgware-based hospitality software and communications specialist Call Systems Technology (CST).

The first Union Jacks will open in Holborn in November 2011 and more will follow in 2012.  It’s an ambitious project that is billed as a new and very British concept for the High Street, where “wood-fired flatbreads meet great British flavours.”

Simon Blagden, managing director of Union Jacks, said that the QSR system brings very clear advantages to Jamie’s Italian – it’s used in 25 of the chain’s sites – and that he was delighted that the new venture would be able to enjoy the same benefits.  “The Jamie’s Italian experience has been that QSR’s ConnectSmart kitchen automation speeds up service, improves food quality and delivers significant cost savings,” he says.

QSR’s ConnectSmart Kitchen (CSK) software helps chefs determine which food items to focus on and how to prepare those items. Using vivid, easy-to-understand graphics, CSK automatically assigns items to individual chef’s workstations, based on the prep times of each item on a particular order – so that all items for the order complete at the same time. CSK delivers faster kitchen preparation and delivery, enhanced food quality and reduced working stress.

“QSR has led the way in developing the technology and provides a complete package that delivers a significant ROI,” says Simon Blagden.
