Low temp glasswashers save energy and money

ReTemp glasswasher from Winterhalter Winterhalter, the glass and dishwasher specialist, has released new figures showing the dramatic savings in running costs that can be made with the company’s GS215 ReTemp energy-saving, low-temperature glasswashers.

The GS215 models are fast, compact, front-loader undercounter units that are ideal for the mess. Using Winterhalter’s patented ReTemp technology, together with specially developed low-temperature detergent and rinse aid, the units wash at only 40C, as opposed to the standard 60C of traditional glasswashers.

This reduces annual running costs by as much as 18% – or over £230, based on current energy prices. As energy costs rise, the savings will rise too. And since Winterhalter’s GS215 is built to give a typical service life of eight to ten years, the ReTemp technology will reduce the lifetime cost of ownership by thousands of pounds.

The latest GS215 models make further savings with a new rinse system. By using a radical new rinse arm design, the system reduces rinse water use significantly. Since the unit uses less water, it also uses less energy (which is required to heat the water) and less detergent and rinse aid.

Combining the ReTemp technology with the new rinse system can reduce total running costs by over 30%, equivalent to savings of more than £400 per year at current prices.

The figures are published in Winterhalter’s ‘Operating Costs Savings Passbook’, which is available free on request either in printed format or as a PDF. All savings figures quoted for the GS215 assume a workload of 80 racks per day, 365 days per year.

Despite using less energy and water, the GS215 ReTemp’s cleaning results are excellent, too. Microbiological tests at an independent certification institute in Germany confirm that the F 33 ReTemp Detergent and K 360 ReTemp Rinse Aid, which are specially formulated for the machine, guarantee hygienically perfect cleaning results and brilliant glasses. Meanwhile the new rinse system gives identical results to the standard system, while using less water.

The ReTemp technology delivers other significant benefits, too. Because glasses are washed at lower temperatures, they come out of the washer at a lower temperature, so there’s no need to wait for them to cool down before using them again. This is a major bonus in busy bars where peak times can put a huge strain on the glassware stock.

In addition, the ReTemp models improve the bar environment. Traditional, high temperature glasswashers release steam into the bar area every time they are opened after a wash cycle, adding to the heat and humidity in the bar. With the ReTemp models, there’s virtually no steam.

The GS215 can handle 500x500mm racks and has a choice of one and two minute wash cycles.
